How your baby's growing: Head to bottom, your baby's 3 1/2 inches long -- about the length of a lemon -- and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more well-defined neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have lengthened and will be in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some growing to do, though.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair all over his body (called lanugo). His liver starts secreting bile this week, a sign that it's already functioning properly, and his spleen starts contributing to the production of red blood cells. He's also producing and discharging urine into the amniotic fluid, a normal process that he'll keep up until birth. You still can't feel your baby's movements, but his hands and feet (which are now half an inch long) are more flexible and active. Thanks to brain impulses, his little facial muscles are getting a workout as he squints, frowns, and grimaces. He can grasp now, too, and he may be able to suck his thumb.
Wow... can i just say that my new favorite candy is wild berry tums. I'm taking it like it's crack..... My next appt is this friday... i doubt they'll see the baby's gender, so i'll prob have to wait till im 18 weeks.... oh well.

Yes, it's amazing how much your digestive system changes so much. Tums would have been my best friend too if I knew I could have taken them back then. Let me know how the doctor's appointment goes. Love ya!
How exciting for you... I think it will great if they can see what the baby's sex is, but if not, you'll have something to look forward to. :-) (Along with the rest of us!)
